If you're someone who spends a significant amount of time online, especially at night, then Dark Night Mode is the
Chrome extension
you've been waiting for. This powerful, free open-source software transforms all the websites you
browse
into dark/night mode, offering an eye-friendly browsing experience. Its intelligent algorithm, unique to this extension, ensures that bright colors are darkened more intensely than darker ones, maintaining the color balance you're used to.
Experience Unparalleled
Personalization
with Dark Night Mode
Unlike other
Chrome
extensions
, Dark Night Mode doesn't simply invert colors. It preserves the actual colors, preventing black websites from turning white. This means images aren't distorted, ensuring your visual browsing experience remains authentic. It also eliminates the flashes of bright white screen that often occur while loading different websites.
Adjustable Brightness and Auto Mode: The Highlight Features
Dark Night Mode truly stands out among the
best Chrome extensions
due to its adjustable brightness feature. It allows you to dim the brightness of your
browser
beyond what your computer's settings permit. It also has an Auto Mode which automatically activates the
Dark Mode
at 8:00 PM and deactivates it at 6:00 AM.
Whitelist Feature: Further
Personalization
for your Browsing Experience
If you want the original color scheme for certain websites, Dark Night Mode offers a Whitelist feature. This function enables you to exempt chosen websites from the
dark mode
, allowing you to enjoy them in their original format.
Adapting to the Dark Side: User Experience
Given the radical change Dark Night Mode brings to your browsing experience, it may take some time for you to acclimate. However, studies show that users generally adapt after about three weeks of use. Many have reported better sleep patterns and reduced eye strain, making it an excellent lifestyle and entertainment extension.
Limitations and Future Developments
While Dark Night Mode is not perfect, it strives to provide optimal balance between processing speed and algorithm intelligence. Perfect color alteration in real-time is challenging due to the non-standardized development of websites. However, efforts are continually made to enhance the extension's performance and features, like adjustable timing for the Auto Mode.
Pair Dark Night Mode with a Dark Chrome Theme
To make your browser window match the dark mode of your websites, consider installing a Dark Chrome theme, such as "Morpheon Dark Theme". This combination will provide you with a comprehensive dark browsing environment.
Conclusion
The Dark Night Mode extension, the result of two months of full-time development, is a game-changer for night-time internet users. Its unique features and the level of personalization it offers make it one of the top Chrome extensions for enhancing online engagement and entertainment. Experience it today and discover the difference it can make to your internet use.

10 Reviews For This Extension
I want some webpages dark, I want some webpages light. Sometimes, I want particular webpages light, sometimes I want the same webpages dark. I don't expect any extension -- that doesn't have ESP -- to know what I want. I find Dark Night Mode (DNM) to be the best solution. In Chrome, I keep the DNM icon in the extension tool bar. If I want "the other mode," it's easy enough to click on the icon and toggle between dark and light. And of course, there is a Whitelist to keep any domain from going dark. DNM has a few other fuctions, Totally disable, re-enable, and a brightness adjustment for Dark mode. A+
its so hard to find one that works on EVERY website but this one works fr
The best Addon for the dark mode that I've EVER tried!
Truly the easiest Dark mode addon. using it for years on 3 different browsers
It's awesome!
Finally something that saves me eye strain and helps me sleep better. It's not perfect (as the developers point out), but it's definitely a game-changer.
Great so fat,,, it make all that white background go away
Doesn't really work on most sites
Works well but does not include styles for visited URLs which make visited links to look similar to new ones in the dark mode. Had to add the following styles into the extension global-new.css file to make visited links to look differently: html > body[class] a:visited,html > body[class] a[class]:visited { color: #c58af9 !important; }
super!!
